There is also towards the west part from the city centre Puerta de Alicante and to the north the San Vicente commercial centre. So shopping is not only confined in one location of the city.

If you are interested in fresh foods like fruits and vegetable, meat and fish, then go to Mercado Central (Central Market) on Avenida de Alfonso el Sabio. This is in a modernist-inspired building built between 1911 to 1912. This is a huge place with many selections of fresh food.

You can also visit the arts and crafts stalls found along the beautiful La Esplanada.

So as not to get lost with all the information, the local tourism office describes the shopping area in the city centre as those located between the Rambla, Calle Gerona, Calle Mayor and Calle del Teatro streets.
